Directions
From Alpboden (Niederrickenbach) we take the first 700 meters with the chairlift. On the Haldigrat we meet Kurt, who has been running "his chairlift" and the mountain inn here for almost 20 years. Then we hike all the way over the ridge to the 2403 meter high Brisen. At the top partly a bit slippery . The panoramic view is brilliant! Be careful when descending on the south side and via Schuenegg. In the afternoon we reach the SAC Brisenhaus, where we spend the night in a simple mattress camp. The food is excellent and the nut bars are the best in central Switzerland. The next day we pass Klewenalp and go on the game observation trail. In the rocks between Oberbauenstock and Zingel it is not uncommon to spot ibexes and chamois. We choose the way up via Fulberg and get on the Oberbauen mountain trail down to the mountain inn Niederbauen and the mountain station of the Niederbauen cableway.
Author’s advice
Other rewarding ascents for fit hikers on this two-day tour are the Oberbauenstock (2117 m) and the Niederbauen (1923 m). From Niederbauenalp it's not far to Hundschopf, an awe-inspiring vantage point overlooking Lake Uri (marked on the map).
