Haldigrat – Brisen – Schuenegg – Brisenhaus – Ängiloch (Klewenalp) – Faulberg – Niederbauen (upper terminus)
We take the aerial cableway from Alpboden (Niederrickenbach) for the initial 700 metre ascent. On the Haldigrat we meet Kurt, who has been operating "his chairlift" and the mountain inn here for almost 20 years. Over the Brisen to the overnight accommodation in the Brisenhaus. The next day we pass Klewenalp on the wildlife observation path to the upper cable terminus at Niederbauen.

Directions
From the cableway upper terminus at Haldigrat the route  goes over the ridge (some of it slippery) to the alt. 2403 m Brisen. The panoramic views is amazing! Take care when descending on the south side of the Brisen and via Steinalper Jochli / Schuenegg. In the afternoon we reach the SAC's Brisenhaus, where we spend the night. The simple dormitory is reminiscent of former SAC huts, the food is excellent and the nut bars are the best in Central Switzerland. The next day we pass Klewenalp and follow the wildlife observation trail. Ibex and chamois are often to be found among the rocks between Oberbauenstock and Zingel. We choose the upper path via Fulberg, and on the Oberbauen path descend to the upper terminus of the Niederbauen aerial cableway.
Author’s advice
Don't tell anyone! The nut bars at the Brisenhaus are the best!

Other rewarding ascents for fit hikers on this two-day tour are the Oberbauenstock (2117 m) and the Niederbauen (1923 m). From Niederbauenalp it's not far to Hundschopf, an awe-inspiring vantage point overlooking Lake Uri (marked on the map).
