The fourth stage of the Tell Trail starts in Lucerne and leads via Fräkmünt up the Pilatus. The descent to Alpnachstad is by cogwheel railway then a walk to Stans.
 You start in the city of Lucerne. Take the bus to Kriens, where an idyllic hike through the Chrienser Hohwald forest awaits you. From Fräkmünt the paths become rougher. You circle the Klimsenhorn and hike up countless hairpins to Lucerne's local mountain, the Pilatus. The world's steepest cogwheel railway takes you back down to the valley and Alpnachstad. Finally, you walk to Stans village.

If you want to go more easy on your legs for the rest of the tour, you can shorten the distance from Alpnachstad to Stans by public transport. More information here.
