What could be better than starting the day with a good breakfast? Sunday brunch, the best invention for late risers and foodies. How about brunch in the mountains, on Lake Lucerne or at the baker’s? Here are a few tips for Sundays in Nidwalden.
There’s been a bakery at Dorfplatz 12 in Stansstad since 1928. Even then, customers could consume the products on the premises. That’s still the case now. The cosy “zum Beck” is a restaurant that serves its own products. Catering for all tastes and occasions, it offers a wide selection of fine fare.
You’ll find the historic Glasi-Restaurant Adler near the Hergiswil glassworks. Croissants and bread, coffee and a glass of orange juice are a traditional part of a Swiss breakfast. The Adler also serves a crispy baked butter-rösti with bacon and fried egg. Daily until 11 a.m., Sundays and public holidays until noon.
Take the panorama cable car from Kriens up to the Fräkmüntegg, to the restaurant of the same name. Leave your heavy rucksack with the provisions at home. The hiking breakfast in the Fräkmüntegg restaurant or on its sun terrace is the best refreshment for a day of hiking. Every Saturday and Sunday from June to August. Reservation required.
From Emmetten, take the cable car directly up to the Berggasthaus Niederbauen and its breathtaking views of Lake Lucerne. A wide range of local specialities awaits at the Sunday brunch buffet, including bread and a host of tasty delicacies, a variety of egg dishes, traditional müesli and little desserts. What could be better than a cosy start to a Sunday? The popular "Sunday Brunch" takes place every Sunday from November to April, alternating between the Hotel SEERAUSCH am See and the Hotel Postillon. The Universe 9 co-working spaces serves brunch every first Sunday of the month. The hearty buffet features local organic products.
On the last Sunday of every month, the Dorfklatsch has an extensive 'brunch'. Starting at 10 a.m., a rich, regional buffet and drinks à discrétion are served. From noon onwards, warm courses and small desserts are added. Enjoy in a cosy and relaxed atmosphere - either in the garden or in the restaurant.
