Emmetten village occupies a quiet spot between Beckenried and Seelisberg. The Brenn forest is one of a number of recreation destinations: it's criss-crossed by footpaths and MTB trails and even has an inviting barbecue spot. MTB enthusiasts will love the Bike Arena Emmetten, which also runs technical courses and guided tours. Show what you can do on the Wood Trail near the Hotel Seeblick – it'll set your pulse racing.
If you want to go a little higher, you can take a trip up the Niederbauen. From Emmetten the little aerial cableway leads directly to the Niederbauen mountain inn, known for its delicacies. The views of Lake Lucerne attract paragliders: it's considered one of the best places to fly. The Niederbauen is where the wildlife observation trail leading to the Stockhütte or Klewenalp starts: it teaches you about the wild animals that inhabit the area and, with a little luck, you may even be able to see them.
Another highlight is the Stockhütte, which can be reached by gondola cableway from Emmetten. You can zoom all the way down from the Stockhütte to Emmetten by bikeboard, which can be hired from the upper terminus. Also located next to the terminus is the Stockhütte mountain inn and a large children's playground. The Bogenpark archery centre in the forested area near the upper terminus instils a sense of adventure. In winter the Stockhütte turns into a snow sports area connected to Klewenalp. Visitors can enjoy various levels of difficulty on the slopes, winter hiking, nordic walking, sledging or simply observing the snowy scenery and savouring the fresh air.
Emmetten can be reached by car (Beckenried exit) in 25 minutes; there's also a bus service there.
