Maria-Rickenbach is the setting-off point for numerous hikes, including guided excursions such as the Yodel Hike or Alpine Herb Hike. Those aspiring to go higher can take the aerial cableway to Musenalp. This is located right next to the Maria-Rickenbach upper terminus. It's then a 30-minute walk from Maria-Rickenbach to the chairlift that takes you to the Haldigrat.
The region benefits from a large number of inviting barbecue spots. Places serving food made from local produce are dotted along the footpaths. Also worth a visit is the Musenalp alp cheese dairy – or Bleiki, where you can buy the products.
The Benedictine Convent of Maria-Rickenbach is home to some nine nuns. The convent shop sells apothecary products and products made from its own herbs. Take a look behind the monastery walls and visit the building and weaving mill.
Maria Rickenbach is a place of green meadows and alpine flowers, rugged rocks and fast-running streams, but no cars: this "place of power" can only be reached on foot, by bicycle or by aerial cableway.
Very well connected with e.g. the Zentralbahn. Stop "Niederrickenbach Station", stop on request.
The lower terminus in Dallenwil is a 20-minute drive from Lucerne.
