The well waymarked Way of St. James leads in two stages through Nidwalden, past monuments, chapels and striking countryside.

Beckenried – Stans

You start at the lower terminus of the Klewenalp cableway and pass Maria im Ridli chapel before continuing alongside the lake to Buochs. The path now continues up the Ennerberg and Waltersberg with delightful chapels and views down towards Oberdorf. An easy track leads from Oberdorf into the centre of Stans.

The path passes the Winkelried monument in Stans. After the first ascent, a striking panorama opens up encompassing the Stans valley floor, Lake Lucerne and the peaks of Central Switzerland. A little above Ennetmoos and Kerns, the path passes through woodland and past various chapels. The highlight at the end of this stage is the hermitage of Niklaus von Flüe and Ranft chapels.
