Current information

Current opening hours to the rock path at Bürgenberg, the mountain restaurant, the HAMMETSCHWAND elevator and the funicular Kehrsiten - Bürgenstock.

The rock path is partially from Bürgenstock Resort to Känzeli-Hammetschwand (Viewplatform before the Hammetschwand Lift station) open. The Hammetschwand Lift is scheduled to open on Thursday, 18 May 2023 (weather permitting).

From 20.06. - 22.06.2023 the Bürgenstock Funicular will be closed due to revision. The revision  timetable is here available.

How do I get to the Hammetschwand lift?

At the Bürgenstock Resort, walk along the rock path. After about 45 minutes (1.7 km) you reach the valley station of the Hammetschwand lift.

Rock path "Felsenweg" at Bürgenstock

The Felsenweg was built between 1900 and 1905 and leads high above Lake Lucerne from Bürgenstock Resort to the Känzeli view point. It is accessible during the summer months from about May to October. The dates of opening in spring and closing in autumn are communicated on felsenweg.ch.

Hammetschwand Lift

Approximately 45 minutes' walk from the Bürgenstock Resort.

The Hammetschwand Lift is also a special building. In one minute, the highest outdoor lift in Europe (152.8 m) leads from the Felsenweg to the Hammetschwand. At the top you can expect a fantastic view, a mountain restaurant and a picnic area. The lift is in operation from 9.30 a.m. - 6 p.m. during the summer months. In winter and in bad weather with rainy, windy or icy conditions, the Hammetschwand lift is closed.
